Amazing Experience

The area around the Parliament Complex, including the lakeshore and walking paths, is a scenic open space frequented by joggers, walkers, and families. A paved walking/jogging track encircles much of DiyawannaOya near Parliament, allowing close views of the water and birdlife. This lakeside promenade not only provides recreation but also acts as a buffer preventing development too close to the wetland(Central Environmental Authority, 2023)(Central Environmental Authority, 2023). The “Parliament grounds” include well-kept lawns and tree-lined avenues (used for national events and daily exercise by citizens), offering potential spots for outdoor environmental exhibitions or small nature festivals. The attractive view of the Parliament building across the water has become an iconic image of Kotte (as seen in the figure above), which can be leveraged in eco-tourism marketing.
