Is the trail free to follow?

Yes. The entire trail is free and open to the public.

The recommended starting point is the Site of the Ancient Drawbridge, near Rajagiriya. Look for the Kingdom of Kotte Cultural Trail marker board. 

No bookings are necessary. The trail is self-guided and open access. However, cultural shows or dining experiences at Waters Edge may require reservations.

We recommend setting aside 6–7 hours for the full trail, but you can explore it in shorter segments depending on your pace and interest.

Yes! Most sites are family-friendly. There is some walking involved, so wearing comfortable shoes is advised.

Yes. Restrooms and cafés are available at key stops including Diyatha Uyana, Ape Gama, and Waters Edge.

No guide or app is needed. Trail signage and our downloadable PDF map and descriptions are enough to guide you.

Some sites are accessible, but portions of the trail involve uneven paths or steps. Visitors with mobility concerns can follow a modified route.

Yes. The trail is easily accessible via buses, three-wheelers (tuk-tuks), or taxis from Colombo and surrounding areas.
